How we build the tables
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This English version is a courtesy translation of the Spanish original. The account tables it describes are for Mexico and are only available in Spanish.
In short
We start with each account's official site, date every number, respect the caps and sort by what you earn in pesos. Nobody can pay to come out better.
What we compare
Accounts and apps in Mexico where a person can keep money and earn interest: yield accounts, savings sub-accounts ("apartados" and "cajitas") and CETES (Mexican treasury bills). Today there are 11. We don't include products that exist only for businesses or investments with market risk (those go separately, like the XTB broker).
Where the data comes from
- First, the official site of each institution: its product page, its help center and its brochures with the GAT (total annual gain).
- Then, comparison sites and media with a visible date (for example, Tasas.mx, Digitt, Expansión, El Financiero or Xataka) to confirm recent changes.
- If two sources don't match, we use the official one and say so in the account's note.
Every table shows its review date. We check rates every week and always after each Banxico decision.
How we calculate "what you earn"
- 1-year gain = amount × annual rate, before income tax (ISR) and without fees.
- We respect the cap. If an account pays its top rate only up to a certain balance, above the cap we use the rate the institution publishes (for example, Revolut pays 7% and Ualá 0%). If we don't know it, we add nothing and mark it with *.
- The calculator uses simple interest on what you deposit, month by month, with contributions at the end of each month. The real gain subtracts the inflation you choose.
- "What you lose" is the purchasing power that inflation eats in a year: amount × annual inflation.
How we pick the Top 3
- Best rate: among the accounts at 15% with money available daily, the one with the easiest requirement to meet that still pays above the cap. Today that's Revolut: it asks for 4 purchases of $50 a month (about $200) and pays 7% above $25,000. Ualá asks for $6,000 a month and Mercado Pago, a subscription.
- Best with no conditions: the highest rate with no minimum purchases, subscription or lock-up period.
- Best for emergencies: no minimum, no conditions and with the money available instantly.
What we don't do
- We don't charge to be listed or to move up. Affiliate commissions don't change the order.
- We don't make up ratings or "scores" with no data behind them.
- We don't give personalized advice.
Protection of your money, in short
- Banks: IPAB, up to 400,000 UDIS per person per bank.
- Authorized Sofipos: Prosofipo, up to 25,000 UDIS per person.
- IFPE (wallets like Mercado Pago): no deposit insurance.
- CETES: backed by the federal government.
